Medical Team Conducts Examination of Walmik Karad in CID Custody Amid Extortion Case Investigation

A medical team from Beed Civil Hospital recently examined Walmik Karad, a significant suspect in an extortion case tied to the murder of village sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. Karad is currently held by the state CID, which is investigating the matter. The examination revealed no major health concerns, although his eyes appeared red due to insufficient sleep, according to sources.

Karad, associated with NCP minister Dhananjay Munde, was apprehended on December 31. He surrendered at the CID office in Pune before being arrested and transferred to the Beed CID team. This team is responsible for probing both the murder and extortion cases linked to Deshmukh's death.

Investigation into Sarpanch's Murder

Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Kej tehsil, Beed district, was kidnapped and killed on December 9. The murder allegedly occurred because Deshmukh opposed an extortion attempt. The perpetrators had demanded money from a windmill company, leading to this tragic incident.
