"We have been made aware of a complaint from a patient and have been fully cooperating with the investigations conducted by the relevant authorities. The woman, an air hostess from West Bengal, arrived in Gurugram on March 31 for a training workshop organized by an airline operator in Darbaripur, Sector 75. She fell ill after swimming at her hotel and was admitted to Medanta Hospital on April 5. The alleged assault took place on April 6, while she was on a ventilator and unable to speak or resist due to her weakened condition.

"On April 6, I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me," she stated in her complaint. According to a report from TOI, the woman also claimed that two nurses were present in the room during the incident but did not intervene.

After her discharge on April 13, she informed her husband, following which a complaint was lodged at Sadar Police Station. Police have recorded the victim's statement before a magistrate and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the accused. "The police team is examining the footage from the hospital's CCTV cameras and will soon identify the accused," a Gurugram Police spokesperson said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Gaurav confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Sadar ACP Yashwant, has been formed to investigate. Some hospital staff have reportedly been detained for questioning, as they may have interacted with the patient during her stay. He added that further details could not be disclosed considering the sensitivity of the case.
