MCD Cracks Down on Illegal Dairies in Tri Nagar, Rescues Over 100 Cattle
In a major crackdown, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) sealed five illegal dairies in Tri Nagar and rescued 102 cattle heads. The action was taken following complaints from locals about the inhumane conditions in which the animals were being kept.
In a significant move to combat the issue of illegal dairies operating in the Tri Nagar area of Keshav Puram Zone, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) conducted a successful operation on Saturday, resulting in the sealing of five properties and the rescue of 102 cattle heads.

Prompt Action Following Complaints
The MCD's veterinary department, in collaboration with the police, initiated a drive against illegal dairies in response to numerous complaints received from local residents. The operation commenced early in the morning, leading to the rescue of 79 adult cattle and 23 calves that were subjected to severe cruelty by the owners of these illicit establishments.
Tampering with Sealed Premises
During the inspection, it was discovered that the seals of some illegal dairies, previously shut down by the corporation, had been tampered with. These premises were being misused to house stray cattle. Consequently, the MCD re-sealed these premises and disconnected their electricity connections through TPDDL.
Attack on Officials
Regrettably, the MCD officials and police personnel encountered resistance from the owners of the illegal dairies during the sealing drive. As the premises were being inspected, a group of dairy owners, joined by their associates on motorcycles, attacked the MCD officials and police. The police intervened to control the attackers.
Legal Action Initiated
In response to the attack, the veterinary services department filed a complaint with the police against the assailants. The MCD is committed to taking strict legal action against those who obstruct or assault its officials while performing their duties.
Additional Sealing Actions
In separate operations, the MCD also sealed four illegal dairies in Khanpur and Sangam Vihar under Neb Sarai police station. The corporation's maintenance department promptly removed the dilapidated structures that were housing cattle. Furthermore, the veterinary department sealed two illegal meat shops in the South Zone.
The MCD's decisive actions against illegal dairies and meat shops demonstrate its commitment to ensuring public health and safety. By rescuing cattle from inhumane conditions and taking legal action against violators, the corporation is working diligently to curb illegal activities and maintain a clean and healthy environment for the citizens of Delhi.
