Key issues to be discussed at MCD House meeting on Wednesday

Discussion on Film Shooting Charges

The MCD House will consider a proposal to divide the time allotted for film shootings in Delhi into three shifts of eight hours each. This move aims to make the process more accessible and affordable for filmmakers. The revised charges are proposed to be set at Rs 15,000 for a 24-hour full-day slot, significantly reduced from the current rate of Rs 75,000.

Responsibilities for Road Construction and Maintenance

Another proposal on the agenda pertains to clarifying the respective responsibilities of the MCD and the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads. The aim is to ensure efficient coordination and accountability for the upkeep of roads in the city.

Other Proposals

The House will also consider several other proposals, including declaring June 1 as the Municipal Corporation Day, installing 10,786 CCTV cameras in 786 MCD schools, and approving the estimated expenditure sanction for hiring security guards and sweepers for various MCD venues.

Additionally, a decision will be made regarding the allotment of an MCD land parcel measuring 348,754 square meters for the entry or exit to the Sadar Bazar metro station on the RK Ashram-Majlis Park corridor of the Delhi MRTS.

Revision of Ground Rent and Contract Extension

Discussions will be held on the revision of ground rent for land and development office (L&DO) properties currently maintained by the MCD. Furthermore, the MCD members will deliberate on extending the contract of the private security services agency at the Kasturba Hospital.

Remodeling and Construction of Sludge Drain

The MCD House will also consider a proposal for the remodeling and construction of a sludge drain in Shahzada Bagh Extension, Anand Parbat, City-SP Zone.

Transfer of Equity Stake

A proposal will be tabled to transfer the MCD's 26 percent equity stake in a company named NTPC EDMC Waste Solutions Private Limited to National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) or any of its affiliate or JV partners.

Previous Meeting Outcomes

In the last Municipal House meeting held on October 31, 54 proposals were approved. These included a policy to provide Rs 1,100 per child to students in MCD schools, the regularization of 5,000 sanitation workers, and a meat shop license policy that restricts the opening of such shops within 150 meters of a religious place.

The upcoming MCD meeting on Wednesday holds significance as key decisions will be made on matters that directly impact the functioning of the city and the welfare of its residents. The outcomes of the meeting will be closely watched by various stakeholders, including citizens, filmmakers, educators, and sanitation workers.
