Mayawati plays numbers game again: This time it is 18
Mayawati who put up a dismal performance in the recently concluded UP elections is now trying to woo back the Dalits.
BSP supremo, Mayawati who resigned from the Rajya Sabha has decided to hold rallies on the 18th of every month. She has decided to make the 18th of every month a significant date as it was on July 18 that she resigned from the Rajya Sabha.

She would highlight at every rally on the 18th that she quit the Rajya Sabha since she was not allowed to speak on the issue of Dalits. She had alleged that she was cut short in the RS while speaking on the Dalit issue.
This is however not for the first time that Mayawati has attached significance to a date. In the 1990s she held a rally on the 2nd of every month. It was on June 2 1995 that she was physically attacked by members of the Samajwadi Party at the state guest house in Uttar Pradesh. For 22 years she used the June 2 episode to attack the SP and also alienate the Dalits from the opposition.
