Mayawati Expels Akash Anand From BSP

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has removed her nephew Akash Anand from the party. This decision follows his response to a showcause notice, which she described as "selfish and arrogant." His reply indicated that he was influenced by his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth, who had already been expelled from the party.

"He (Akash Anand) should have repented for this and shown his maturity. But on the contrary, the long response given by Shri Akash is not of his remorse and political maturity but is mostly selfish, arrogant and non-missionary under the influence of his father-in-law," Mayawati said in a series of three posts on X.

Party Discipline and Movement

Mayawati emphasised that Akash's expulsion aligns with maintaining discipline within the party. She referenced the principles of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Kanshiram ji as guiding factors in her decision. Her last post on the matter stated that Akash's removal was necessary for the party's integrity and movement.

Ashok Siddharth faced expulsion over accusations of causing division within the party. Mayawati accused him of splitting the party into two factions across India, including Uttar Pradesh. She labelled this act as intolerable and detrimental to the party's unity.

Akash Anand's Political Journey

Previously seen as Mayawati's political successor, Akash Anand has experienced fluctuating roles within the party. In May last year, he was stripped of all significant positions due to being deemed "immature." However, a month later, he was appointed National Coordinator, suggesting he would inherit her political legacy.

The recent developments highlight internal challenges within the Bahujan Samaj Party. The expulsion decisions reflect Mayawati's commitment to preserving party values and addressing influences she perceives as harmful.
