Mayawati Criticises Jat Community for Bahujan Samaj Party and INLD Election Loss in Haryana

BSP leader Mayawati criticised the Jat community in Haryana for their caste-based voting behaviour, which she believes affected the assembly election results. She urged them to change their mindset. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had contested the Haryana elections in partnership with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), a regional political party.

Mayawati Blames Jat Community for Election Loss

The BJP secured a third consecutive victory in the state elections, winning 48 out of 90 seats. The Congress obtained 37 seats, while the INLD managed to win only two. Three seats went to Independent candidates, as reported by the Election Commission. The BSP received a vote share of 1.82%, and its ally INLD garnered 4.14%, according to data on the EC website.

Mayawati's Reaction on Social Media

On Tuesday night, Mayawati expressed her views on social media platform X. She stated, "The BSP and the INLD fought the Haryana assembly general election in alliance. But today's result shows that the casteist people of the Jat community did not vote for the BSP due to which the party candidates lost on some seats by a small margin of votes, although the BSP's entire vote was transferred."

Mayawati highlighted that in Uttar Pradesh, Jat community members have largely moved away from caste-based thinking. They have become MLAs and ministers under BSP's leadership. She advised Haryana's Jat community to follow this example and change their casteist mentality.

Encouragement for BSP Members

Mayawati expressed her gratitude towards all BSP members for their dedication during the elections. She assured them that their efforts would not be wasted. "People should not be disappointed nor lose hope. But they should be ready to make their own path. A new path will emerge," she added in her three-part post.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister's comments reflect her disappointment with the election outcome and her hope for future change in voter behaviour within Haryana's Jat community.
