Master plan for Delhi Assembly poll: BJP may project Smriti Irani as Delhi CM
New Delhi, Jan 13: Buoyed by recent poll victories-first in Lok Sabha election and then State assembly polls, BJP seems to be in a mood to repeat its magic in Delhi assembly polls too.
As the Election Commission has announced the due date (Feb 7) for election in the capital, the Saffron party is not leaving any stone unturned this time as last time they fell short of four seats in 70 member Assembly.

The party strategists are working on all the weak points which wobbled their way earlier. The Modi-led BJP is planning to wrest out all those constituencies which were ceded to the Opposition in December 2013 election.
Reportedly, BJP has already started zeroing in on the names of probable Chief Minister candidates after party got the whiff that it will get full mandate in the election. According to a Zeenews report, the Saffron party is mulling to hand over the reins to Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani if party gets lucky in the coming poll.
As per reports, recently party did some internal survey where people were asked what are the issues they were facing and what they expected from the next Government. Apparently, on the basis of the survey, party concluded that women security was the top priority for the Delhi people. Moreover, in Delhi, out of 30 crore electorate, over 58 per cent are women which may connect with the party if Irani will be declared the Delhi Chief Minister.
The party wants to woo women folks at a time when women security in the city has hit the nadir. Hardly a day passes when some untoward incident doesn't occur in the national capital. The saffron party believes that if it will be able to secure majority of votes of women and youth, then it will definitely be in the driver's seat.
It is being said that the decision to project Smriti Irani as Delhi Chief Minister may not go down well with many of the senior leaders. But then all these leaders know that Irani is the blue eyed girl of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
One can easily remember Modi's word during Lok sabha campaigning when he had said that Smiriti is like his sister. Not only that, even after her defeat from Amethi, she got a cabinet berth and was made the HRD Minister.
Only time will tell whether, Irani will be next CM of the Delhi, but one thing is crystal clear that BJP is trying all possible ways to thwart Oppositions in this election.
