Mass Combing Operations Launched in Jiribam to Apprehend Culprits Behind Killings of Women and Children
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that extensive search operations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the recent murders of three women and three children in Jiribam district. Although no arrests have been made, several suspects have been identified. Singh emphasised that these operations will continue until the perpetrators are captured and brought to justice.

Following the tragic events on November 7 and 11 in Jiribam, two CRPF companies were deployed immediately, with five more added later. The missing individuals, from the Meitei community, disappeared from a relief camp after a clash between security forces and suspected Kuki-Zo militants. This confrontation led to the deaths of 10 insurgents on November 11.
Security Measures and Investigations
The bodies of the six missing people were discovered in the days following the incident. Singh explained that due to the sensitive nature of the situation, constant updates through media channels are not possible. Public announcements have previously led to sabotage and disturbances, complicating matters further.
Singh highlighted that both national and international leaders, along with the home ministry, have been informed about external forces influencing the state's issues. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has re-registered cases related to all Jiribam incidents, including the murder of three women and three children, an attack on CRPF personnel, and the death of 10 militants.
Appeal for Calm Amidst Complexities
The Chief Minister urged citizens to remain calm as the situation is intricate and cannot be resolved through emotional responses. He assured that efforts are being made to address these challenges effectively. Singh's appeal underscores the need for patience and understanding during this difficult period.
The ongoing operations reflect a commitment to restoring peace and ensuring justice for those affected by these tragic events. Authorities continue to work diligently to bring those responsible to account while maintaining public safety and order.
