Marathi producer, family attacked over consuming non-veg food

Mumbai, Jul 18: A Marathi theatre producer has filed a police complaint against residents of a housing society in north Mumbai alleging they attacked his flat two days ago and assaulted his family over cooking and eating non-vegetarian food.

The incident, reported from suburban Dahisar, comes after another person was denied a flat in Malad on the grounds that he was a non-vegetarian.

Congress MLA Nitesh Rane said he supports the Dahisar resident Govind Chavan, 48, who has lodged the police complaint. Police said an FIR had been filed on Chavan's complaint and they are recording statements of the other parties.
