Manoj Sinha Urges Security Forces To Take Strong Action Following Grenade Attack In Srinagar
In response to a grenade attack in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir's lieutenant governor, Manoj Sinha, urged security forces to deliver a strong counteraction against terrorists. He emphasised the need to dismantle terror groups operating in the region. "The LG spoke to DGP Nalin Prabhat and senior officials of the security agencies on the grenade attack in Srinagar. He directed the security officials for an effective and forceful response to punish the terrorists and their associates," an official spokesman said.
The attack occurred near a CRPF bunker close to a bustling flea market, injuring 12 civilians. This incident follows the killing of a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in Srinagar's Khanyar area just a day earlier. The recent surge in violence has raised concerns among residents and officials alike.

Security Forces' Response
Manoj Sinha stated that those responsible for attacking civilians would face severe consequences. He assured that security forces have complete autonomy to dismantle terror networks. "You have full freedom to crush terror outfits and leave no stone unturned to complete this mission," he added.
Jammu and Kashmir's chief minister, Omar Abdullah, also condemned the attack. He stressed that there is no justification for targeting innocent people. "The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today's news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the 'Sunday market' in Srinagar is deeply disturbing. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians," the CM said in a post on X.
Call for Peace
Abdullah further urged security agencies to take all necessary measures to halt this wave of attacks swiftly. "The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear," he added.
The recent incidents highlight ongoing tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, with authorities striving to restore peace and normalcy. The government remains committed to ensuring safety for its citizens amidst these challenges.
