Manohar Parrikar resigns as Goa CM, next CM to be announced by 4 pm

Parrikar is being tipped as the next defence minister in the Modi government after a Cabinet reshuffle which is expected to be held on Sunday, Nov 9.
Parrikar submitted his resignation to the Goa Governor via fax. Meanwhile, the BJP is now discussing whom to name as the next CM.
After submitting his resignation, Parrikar tweeted:
The BJP Parliamentary board met on Saturday and discussed who will be Parrikar's successor. The new Goa CM will be named by 4 pm on Saturday, Nov 8 evening.
RSS strongman Laxmikant Parsekar and Catholic face of the state Francis D'Souza are the frontrunners for the CM post, though voices of dissent in the Goa BJP unit have been loud and clear.
D'Souza threatened that he would quit if he was not made the next CM. "If I am not made the next CM, I do not wish to continue in the government," he said.
