New Delhi, Feb 2: Defence minister Manohar Parrikar has assured ex-servicemen of early implementation of the one-rank one pension scheme, saying his ministry has fast-tracked the work on it.

This came when a delegation of 27 ex-servicemen went to Parrikar's Kota house, which is his residence for the time being. Following a rally by the ex-servicemen, Parrikar assured them that the scheme would be rolled out soon and that he has instructed his ministry to work on fast-track. The ministry is likely to send its views to finance ministry by February 17.

One rank, one pension to be rolled out!

However, Parrikar underlined the fact that there were a lot of calculations and complications involved and that he is working toward solving them, which include getting approval from the finance ministry before the budget this month. He said,"I will do my work."

Maj Gen Satbir Singh (retired), chairman of Indian Ex-Service Movement, said the meeting with Parrikar was "positive". The scheme seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to defence personnel who retire at the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
