RIP Manmohan Singh: Ex-PM's Last Appearance In Rajya Sabha On A Wheelchair; And How PM Modi Praised Him

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is no more. He was 92 years old and took the last breath in Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). According to the reports, ex-PM Manmohan Singh was admitted in the emergency ward around 8:30 pm, after which, doctors provided emergency treatment but could not save him.

Ex-Rajya Sabha MP Manmohan Singh made his last appearance in Parliament this year during the voting on Delhi amendment bill 2023.

At his farewell, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded him for coming on a wheelchair just to fulfill his duties as a Member of Parliament. PM Modi praised Dr Manmohan Singh's dedication and commitment that are ideals for young MP.

"I remember in the other House, during the voting, it was known that the treasury bench would win, but Dr Manmohan Singh came in his wheelchair and cast his vote," Prime Minister Modi had said, adding: "This is an example of a member being alert of his duties."

Expressing condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Delhi Congress in a post on X, said, "The demise of renowned economist and former Prime Minister of the country, respected Manmohan Singh ji is an irreparable loss to Indian politics.May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to his family to bear this sorrow. The Delhi Congress family pays homage to the memories of respected Manmohan ji and expresses gratitude for his contribution to nation building. Om Shanti."
