Punjab and Haryana Political Leaders Express Condolences Following Manmohan Singh's Death
Political figures from various parties expressed their condolences on Thursday following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who died at 92. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi announced his passing. Singh was admitted to the emergency ward at 8:06 pm after suddenly losing consciousness.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted Singh's significant role in India's development, noting his simplicity. "I pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and give strength to the loved ones in this difficult time," Saini posted on X.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann described Singh's death as a major loss for the nation. Mann stated, "The absence of this great economist who brought India's economy back on track will always be felt by the countrymen," in a post on X.
Tributes from Political Leaders
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda praised Singh as a leading economist and a pioneer of economic reforms. Hooda expressed his sorrow on X, saying, "I am saddened by the news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a great economist of the world, a pioneer of economic reforms in India."
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also mourned Singh's death. He called him a visionary economist and statesman whose contributions to India's growth will be remembered. "May Waheguru Ji grant peace to his soul and strength to his family #Manmohan," Cheema posted on X.
Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister O P Soni shared his condolences, recalling Singh's affection for Amritsar and Punjab. Soni remarked that while Singh's passing is a loss for the entire nation, Punjab will feel it more deeply.
Reflections on Leadership and Legacy
Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa described Singh as one of India's most humble and dignified leaders. Bajwa noted, "A man of few words but immense wisdom, his leadership steered India through significant challenges with grace and integrity."
Congress Sirsa MP Kumari Selja referred to Singh's death as an irreplaceable loss for India. She likened it to losing a family elder and guide. Selja acknowledged Singh's role in leading India towards liberalisation and economic development.
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala paid tribute to Singh's character and influence. "Dr. Manmohan Singh, the gentlemen politician and an epitome of probity & simplicity, leaves behind an unfathomable void," Surjewala wrote on X.
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring hailed Singh as a true statesman and exceptional economist. Warring affirmed that "Singh's contributions to India's progress will forever be remembered."
