Manipur Singer-Lyricist Abducted; Wife, Mother Held At Gunpoint

Akhu Chingangbam, a singer and lyricist based in Manipur, was abducted by armed individuals, according to India Today North East reports. Sources familiar with the incident stated that he was taken by gunmen after his wife and mother were threatened at gunpoint.

Hailing from Khurai in Imphal East, Akhu Chingangbam is not only a singer and lyricist but also the founder of the folk rock band 'Imphal Talkies.' The region of Manipur has been grappling with ethnic tensions between the Meiteis and the Kukis since May 3.
