Manipur govt formation: How Congress is trying to get the numbers
It would be a tense finish to the crisis in Manipur where both the BJP and the Congress have staked a claim to form the government. The BJP on Monday appointed Biren Singh as its CM candidate who later went on to stake a claim to form the government in Manipur.

Okram Ibobi Singh who tendered his resignation on Monday too has staked a claim to form the government in Manipur. Both parties have claimed that it has the support of 31 MLAs, one more than the magic mark of 31 in the 60 member house.
In the letter of support, Biren Singh has told the Governor that he enjoys the support of 32 MLAs. He has handed out letters of support from the NPP with 4 MLAs, NPF-4, TMC-1, LJP-1 and one independent. This takes the BJP's tally to 32.
The Congress too claims to have the support of 32 MLAs. The Congress won 28 seats and said that it had the support of four NPP MLAs. The NPP had on Monday disputed the letter and called it fake.
The governor Najma Hepthullah will take a final call on the matter. If there is a dispute regarding the letters of support, then she may ask the claimants to parade the MLAs supporting them before the Raj Bhavan.
