Manipur: FIR against former CM Ibobi Singh for financial irregularities

The case pertains to the functioning of the Manipur Development Society (MDS), a government agency.

The Imphal police have registered an FIR against former chief minister of Manipur, Ibobi Singh and five others in a case of alleged financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 185.79 crore.

The case pertains to the functioning of the Manipur Development Society (MDS), a government agency. The FIR, registered under various sections of the IPC and Personal Liabilities Act, 1998, charges the six with cheating, criminal conspiracy and breach of trust, the last being non-bailable.

The other five named in the FIR are three former chief secretaries - D.S. Ponia, P.C. Lawmkunga and O. Nabakishore Singh, a former project director of MDS, Y. Ningthem Singh, and administrative officer of MDS, S. Ranjit Singh.
