Punjab Govt Introduces Compulsory Guru Tegh Bahadur Curriculum Across All Schools

The Punjab government has introduced a mandatory curriculum in all schools, focusing on the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur. This initiative marks the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom. The curriculum will be implemented from nursery to class twelve, aiming to instill values like courage, integrity, righteousness, and justice among students.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced this significant move during an event. He emphasized that previously only a single chapter was taught, but now a comprehensive curriculum will be available. This effort is expected to preserve Guru Sahib's rich legacy while imparting essential values to children.

Special Morning Sessions

A new educational module related to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji has been officially launched by the Punjab government. Developed by the Punjab School Education Board, it has received approval from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). This module includes a special session during morning assemblies in all government, private, and aided schools.

The session will last 10 to 12 minutes and cover topics such as Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's life, his martyrdom, Mata Gujri's life, and the establishment of the Khalsa Panth. The aim is to provide students with a deeper understanding of these significant historical events.

Involvement of Key Figures

Arvind Kejriwal, former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party, attended the 350th martyrdom anniversary ceremony of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He expressed on social media that participating in the holy Kirtan Darbar at Gurudwara Sahib Chhevin Patshahi in Srinagar was a fortunate moment for him.

Punjab's Education Minister recently visited several schools to educate students about Guru Sahib's unique sacrifices and teachings. The minister also urged all deputy commissioners and senior officials to visit schools and inspire children through these lessons.

This initiative ensures that every school in Punjab incorporates this curriculum into their teaching framework. By doing so, it aims to create awareness among students about their cultural heritage and instill moral values that are crucial for personal development.
