The primary suspect in the murder of a 29-year-old woman, whose dismembered body was discovered in a refrigerator in Bengaluru, allegedly died by suicide in Odisha on Wednesday, according to police reports. The suspect, Muktiranjan Pratap Ray, aged 31, was reportedly involved in a relationship with the victim, Mahalakshmi. Frequent disputes over her desire for marriage led to the tragic incident.

Bengaluru Murder Suspect Dies by Suicide

Ray's body was found hanging from a tree within the Dhusuri Police Station limits in Bhadrak district, Odisha. A purported suicide note discovered at the scene revealed his confession to the crime, as stated by Odisha police. Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Shekhar H Tekkannavar confirmed the discovery of Ray's body on Wednesday morning.

Investigation and Suspect's Background

Mahalakshmi and Ray met while working at a garment shop and developed a relationship. Mahalakshmi allegedly pressured Ray to marry her, resulting in frequent arguments. According to preliminary investigations, Ray, described as short-tempered, killed Mahalakshmi during one such altercation and subsequently dismembered her body.

After committing the crime, Ray contacted his younger brother, instructing him to vacate their rented house immediately. When questioned about the reason, Ray told his brother he would explain in person. Upon returning home, Ray confessed to his brother about the murder and expressed his intention to leave the city for their native place.

Technical Surveillance and Police Actions

Using technical analysis and Call Record Details, authorities identified Ray as the suspect. Initially, his mobile location was traced to West Bengal before he switched it off. However, further technical surveillance pinpointed his location to a village in Odisha. Police teams were dispatched to apprehend him.

Ray changed locations within Odisha before being found dead. Police are awaiting the final post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Mahalakshmi's maggot-infested body was discovered by her mother and elder sister at her Vyalikaval residence on Saturday.

Community Reactions and Further Investigations

The estranged husband of Mahalakshmi expressed suspicion about another man known to her who lived nearby. This individual had been living alone in her neighbourhood. The investigation continues as police gather more evidence and testimonies related to this gruesome case.

The tragic events surrounding Mahalakshmi's death have shocked the community. Authorities are working diligently to piece together all aspects of this case while ensuring justice for the victim and her family.
