Man Receives Life Sentence for Kidnapping and Murder of Nine-Year-Old Nephew
A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the kidnapping and murder of his nine-year-old nephew. The verdict was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Varun Mohit Nigam, who also imposed a fine of Rs 57,000 on the accused, Tahir. This information was provided by Assistant District Government Counsel Criminal Vijay Kumar Sharma.

Rafiq, a resident of Khurja Nagar, reported to the police that on September 12, 2016, a camel had arrived in his neighbourhood. This attracted local children, including his nephew Shadan. While other children returned home, Shadan did not, leading to a frantic search. When Shadan remained missing, police registered a case against unknown individuals and initiated an investigation.
Investigation and Arrest
The day after Shadan's disappearance, Tahir, Shadan's maternal uncle, visited the family with a ransom note demanding Rs 3 lakh. However, two locals had seen Tahir with Shadan on the day he vanished. Upon learning about Shadan's disappearance, they informed his family, which led to Tahir's arrest.
During interrogation, Tahir admitted to kidnapping Shadan for ransom. He confessed to taking him to an abandoned brick kiln in Hazratpur. There, he murdered Shadan by hitting him with a brick and concealed the body at the site.
Evidence and Court Verdict
Based on Tahir's confession, police recovered Shadan's body from the kiln along with the brick used in the murder and Shadan's slippers. On Thursday, Judge Varun Mohit Nigam found Tahir guilty of the crime. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 57,000.
This case highlights the tragic consequences of greed and betrayal within families. The swift action by law enforcement and the court's decision aim to deliver justice for young Shadan and his grieving family.
