Man frustrated with financial condition sets fire to ailing wife

, March 6: A 40 year old man, Ramvir Vishwakarma, set his ailing wife on fire. He later stabbed his 60-year old mother to death on Wednesday. A resident of Anchalpura village, he took this extreme step as he was fed up with his financial condition and the chronic sickness of his wife who was suffering from Cancer.

He was later arrested. SP Dr Ashis of Bhind said,"Prime facie it seems that the accused was not mentally stable as his wife was suffering from cancer and committed the crime. As of now he is not in a condition to give any statement."

It is said that he attempted to kill his 2 children-sundar (4) and Janaki (8). However, Sundar sustained minor injuries, while Janaki is out of danger.

The incident took place at around 4 am, when he first killed his wife Savitri (38) and later stabbed his 60 year old mother with a sharp-edged weapon in the nearby hut. While Savitri's charred body was found in a trunk, police is yet to find out whether she was burnt before being put in the trunk.

Police said,"As the badly charred body was found from the trunk, it is yet to be ascertained whether he put the body inside after burning or burned it after locking her inside it."
