Fatal Accident in North Delhi: Car Plunges into Drain, Man Dies

A 44-year-old man lost his life after his car plunged into a drain in Burari, north Delhi, police reported on Monday. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Sunday near a metro pillar on the Ring Road.

North Delhi: Fatal Car Plunge

According to authorities, the car, speeding from the Bhalaswa Dairy direction, veered towards a temporary metro diversion and fell into the drain. A PCR van, fire tenders, and divers from the east district's disaster management team arrived at the scene. Within 20 minutes, they located the car approximately 100 metres from the accident site.

Efforts to Retrieve the Vehicle

The vehicle was registered under Rajesh Bhutt, a resident of Shalimar Bagh. It was retrieved from the drain using a JCB machine. However, Bhutt's body was not immediately found. On Monday morning, divers resumed their efforts and eventually recovered Bhutt's body from the drain.

Initial investigations suggest that Bhutt worked for a transport company and had gone for a solo joy ride on Sunday. Police believe that rash and negligent driving led to the accident.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

An eyewitness account and subsequent enquiry revealed critical details about the incident. Consequently, a case under section 281 (rash driving) and section 1061 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered. Further investigation is ongoing.

The police are continuing their probe to gather more information about the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
