Man arrested after video of him mercilessly beating 10-year-old son goes viral

The Bengaluru police on Sunday arrested a 37-year-old man identified as Mahendra Kumar, plumber after a video clip of him beating his 10-year-old son mercilessly for lying went viral.

The video was retrived from a mobile phone which was sent to a service centre or repair.

The video clip was released by the service centre's technician on social media, following which the police arrested the accused.

The man has been booked for assault, criminal intimidation and under other sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

It is learnt that the incident took place arond a month and half ago. The brutal thrashing was recorded by the mother on the father's insistence. He, reportedly, wanted the video to be shown to the boy so that he doesn't lie again. The shopkeeper, who saw the video, informed an NGO, which approached the police and the father was arrested.
