Congress MLA Mamman Khan Hit With UAPA Charges in Nuh Violence Case
Congress MLA Mamman Khan is facing charges under the stringent UAPA in connection with the Nuh violence case. The charges were added to the FIR registered at Nagina police station.
In a significant development, the Haryana Police have invoked charges under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against opposition Congress MLA Mamman Khan in connection with the Nuh violence case that occurred last year.

UAPA Charges Added to FIR
The charges under the UAPA have been imposed against Khan, the MLA from Ferozpur Jhirka, in a case registered at Nagina police station in Nuh. According to Khan's counsel, the police have added the UAPA charges to the initial FIR.
Previous Accusations Against Khan
Earlier, the police had accused Khan of inciting violence and being in contact with suspects involved in sharing provocative posts on social media. In addition to the UAPA charges, Khan faces other charges in the FIR.
Khan's Arrest and Bail
It is worth noting that Khan was arrested last year in connection with the Nuh violence case and was later granted bail by the court.
UAPA Invoked in Multiple Cases
During the ongoing Budget session of the Haryana Assembly, Congress MLA from Nuh Aftab Ahmed raised concerns about the invocation of UAPA in three cases registered at Nuh police station and one at Nagina police station after the challan had been presented in the court.
Questions Raised in Assembly
Ahmed questioned the rationale behind invoking UAPA, which is typically used against terrorists, in these cases. He highlighted the fact that a Congress legislator has been booked under UAPA in one of the cases, while the same charges were not applied in the Gurugram case where an Imam was killed in violence last year.
UAPA Charges in Other Cases
Prior to the Nuh violence case, the police had already invoked UAPA charges against the accused in three other cases connected to the murder of two home guards and a Bajrang Dal member, as well as an attack on a cyber police station six months ago.
Charges Added to Challan
While the UAPA charges were not included in the initial FIRs related to these cases, court documents revealed that they were added to the challan presented in court to oppose the bail petitions filed by the accused.
The invocation of UAPA charges against Congress MLA Mamman Khan and the broader concerns raised by other MLAs in the Haryana Assembly highlight the complexities and sensitivities surrounding the Nuh violence case. As the legal proceedings unfold, the focus will be on ensuring justice while upholding the principles of fairness and due process.
