Mamata's TMC in 2011 and Kejriwal's AAP in 2013
New Delhi, Dec 8: The AAP-cyclone which hit Congress in Delhi in 2013 is similar to the Mamata-wave which floored the communist government in West Bengal in 2011.

CPI (M) government, after 34 years, was defeated in the West Bengal in 2011. Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool congress won an absolute majority of seats and chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was defeated by TMC candidate Manish Gupta.

That was not at all a small feat. West Bengal had always been left parties' strong hold.

Arvind Kejriwal's feat in Delhi deserves more applauds. Unlike TMC, AAP is a new party, with hardly any experince in the field of governance. While Mamata rode on Singur-Nandigram issues, Kejriwal raised voice against Congress' corruption.

Even if trails behind BJP in overall number of seats, the party has put up a remarkable show. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has defeated chief minister Sheila Dikshit, marking the end of Congress' reign in Delhi.

Congress was a giant 'David' in Delhi, and AAP the Goliath.
