Mamata didi scared, she is losing Nandigram: JP Nadda slams Mamata Banerjee at poll rally in Hooghly

New Delhi, Mar 31: BJP chief JP Nadda slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that Mamata didi is scared as she is going to lose Nandigram, from where she is contesting against TMC turncoat and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Addressing a poll rally in Hooghly, the BJP chief said, "Mamata didi is scared. She is losing Nandigram."

Nadda also said that curfew was imposed in Bengal when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was laying the foundation stone of Ram temple in Ayodhya. "Should we let it continue? Should a grand temple of Lord Ram be made in Ayodhya or not? We should give a befitting reply to TMC in polls," he said.

The BJP chief also took a jibe at Banerjee for performing 'Chandi Paath' and said, "I saw TMC workers celebrating Saraswati puja very enthusiastically this year. Where were you in the last four years? Now, Mamata Ji is performing 'Chandi Paath'. Why didn't you do it earlier? She is doing it now because people have decided that her departure is certain," he said.

The first phase of eight-phased West Bengal polls was held on March 27 with the state recording more than 80 per cent voter turnout. Polling for the remaining phases will be held between April 1 and 29 and counting of votes will be held on May 2.

The BJP that had a limited presence in the state for decades had made its presence felt in the 2019 General Elections and emerged as the TMC's main political rival after winning 18 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state, only four less than the ruling party's tally of 22.

The saffron party has expanded its footprints in West Bengal in the past few years with an aim to oust the Mamata Banerjee government that has been in power in the state for the last 10 years.
