Mamata Banerjee Takes A Jibe At Khattar's Not Everyone Can Be Protected Statement

Reacting to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's statement on "not everyone can be protected" in connection with the communal violence in Haryana's Nuh district, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee said that a government may not be able to protect everyone but should not even provoke people based on caste and creed.

Taking a dig at the BJP government, she said Centre sends teams to West Bengal even if there is a small violence in the state, but when something happens in Haryana, nothing happens.

"Urgent issues are urgent. But sometimes it happens here that they will send the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation but they will not send any agencies in their state," said the Bengal CM.

Six people, including two home guards, were killed in Haryana in the communal clashes during a procession by the Vishva Hindu Parishad that took place on Monday in the state's Nuh district.

Manohar Khattar said 116 people have been arrested and 190 detained in connection with the clashes. The Haryana government also announced a compensation of Rs 57 lakh to the families of the two home guards killed in the violence.

Speaking about the anti-corruption cell constituted by the West Bengal Governor, Mamata Banerjee said it was happening due to the Centre's instructions.

On Tuesday, Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose announced the setting up of an anti-corruption cell in Raj Bhavan. Taking to Twitter, the Office of Bengal Governor stated that the anti-corruption cell started functioning in the Raj Bhavan Peace Room on Tuesday.
