Mamata announces interim relief for WB govt employees
Kolkata, May 27: As a goodwill measure after taking charge as the Chief Minister today, Mamata Banerjee announced an interim relief for all state government employees on band pay, which was a long-pending demand.
All employees of the West Bengal government, teachers working under it, employees of urban local bodies and pension holders would get ten per cent interim relief on band pay from July this year.

The announcement was made after the first cabinet meeting at the state secretariat. Banerjee claimed such a move was never been taken before. State finance and industry minister Amit Mitra said this was a goodwill measure by the government which wanted to balance development with employees' welfare.
