Major terror attack averted in Delhi

New Delhi, May 4: The Delhi police is probing the role of eight persons detained in connection with an alleged terror plot.

These 8 persons who have been detained with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are said to be part of a plot to carry out attacks in Delhi and nearby places.

The raid on their hide out was conducted following intelligence bureau reports suggesting that the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM)was planning attacks in the National Capital and other places.

The Delhi police say that the raid was conducted and they managed to detain 8 persons. The role of four more is being ascertained the police also say.

The police say that while these persons were detained they had found on them improvised explosive devices which was meant to be used during the attack.

They are suspected to be part of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, but further questioning will get us the clear picture, the police also add.

In the past two months there have been several intelligence bureau inputs suggesting that Pakistan based militant groups would try and attack the national Capital.

These terrorists may have slipped in and got in touch with their local contacts, IB officials tell OneIndia. The Delhi police is currently probing them and further details are expected soon.
