Mahendra Singh Mewar, a former BJP MP and member of the Mewar royal family, passed away at a private hospital in Udaipur. He was 83 years old. Family sources revealed that he had been receiving treatment for several days before his passing on Sunday. Mahendra Singh Mewar was a descendant of Maharana Pratap, the 16th-century Rajput king who ruled Mewar until 1597.

His political career included being elected to the Lok Sabha from the Chittorgarh constituency in 1989 on a BJP ticket. His contributions to social and political life were widely acknowledged.
