Mahayuti Govt's Ladki Bahini Yojana, Other Women Empowerment Initiatives Strengthen Votebank In Kolhapur
The Mahayuti government in Kolhapur has made a notable impact on women's lives with the Ladki Bahini Yojana, benefiting two crore women since its launch. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced an increase in the scheme's remuneration from 1500 to 2100 rupees during a public meeting. This move, along with the approval of 10 other schemes, is seen as a strategic effort to garner women's support ahead of the assembly elections.
Efforts to empower women have been a priority for the Mahayuti government. The Lake Ladki Yojana provides one lakh rupees to girls until they turn 18. Additionally, changes in government documents now list the girl's name first, followed by the mother's name, reflecting respect for women in both societal and official capacities.

Focus on Women's Economic Empowerment
Improving women's economic status has been another focus area. Under the Maharashtra State Rural Development Mission, self-help groups have increased to 7 lakh. The fund for each group was raised from 15 thousand to 30 thousand rupees. Initiatives like 'Lakhpati Didi' through 'Umed Mart' and 'E-Commerce Online Platform' have empowered 15 lakh women financially.
The 'Ai Yojana' supports women entrepreneurs in tourism by covering loan interest repayment up to Rs.15 lakh. Educationally, there is a full fee waiver for girls from economically weaker sections and other backward classes with family incomes up to 8 lakh rupees annually.
Healthcare and Mobility Initiatives
Healthcare improvements include increased subsidies under the Shubmangal Vivah Registered Yojana from 10 thousand to 25 thousand rupees. Breast and cervical cancer screening facilities have been enhanced at health sub-centers with a provision of 78 crore rupees. Additionally, 3324 ambulances are available for free transport of pregnant mothers and children to health institutions.
The e-pink rickshaw scheme supports women's mobility, with participation from 10 thousand women across 17 cities and an allocation of an 80 crore fund. These initiatives aim to enhance women's independence and access to essential services.
Strengthening Women's Representation
In a significant step towards increasing women's representation in law enforcement, Chief Minister Shinde announced the recruitment of 25,000 women into the police force. This move underscores the government's commitment to women's empowerment and security.
The increase in Ladki Bahini Yojana remuneration and other initiatives aim to consolidate women's support for the Mahayuti government. These efforts could potentially establish a dedicated women's vote bank for the coalition.
