Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham To Be Ayodhya Airport's Official Name, Say Reports

According to the reports, the newly-built Ayodhya airport is likely to be named after the author of Ramayana, Maharishi Valmiki. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhyadham on December 30. Earlier, it was called Maryada Purshottam Shri Ram Ayodhya International Airport. The decision comes a month before the grand inaugural ceremony of Ram Temple will be held on January 22, 2024.

IndiGo and Air India have already announced to run flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, commencing in January 2024.

According to the reports, the initial phase of airport construction is projected to cost around Rs 1,450 crore. The newly planned terminal building, covering an area of 6,500 square meters, has been designed to cater to 600 passengers during peak hours and has an annual capacity to handle up to 10 lakh passengers.
