When contacted, a spokesperson of a private company supplying power to the area claimed there was possibly a fault in the water pump connection that the woman was using. Due to scarcity, many people have been using pumps to fetch water and they do not follow the safety regulations, the official said.

This incident comes after three migrant labourers, all aged 19, died of electrocution while working on a water tank in the Thane district in April. The incident took place around 11 am at Jambul village near Ambernath. The labourers got an electric shock due to faulty wiring of a pump in a water tank. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared the trio dead.

The three victims were identified as Shaligram Mandal, Rajankumar Mandal and Gulshankumar Mandal who hailed from Bihar's Bhagalpur district. An accident death case was also registered for them and their bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem, as stated by an official from the Kalyan taluka police station.
