Maharashtra: Town under curfew for eve teasing
Washim, July 16: The Washim district of Maharashtra is under curfew. The reason being, a clash that erupted on Tuesday morning after a school girl was intercepted on the road by a man who passed lewd comments.
Following this passerbys came to the girl's aid when she raised an alarm and a clash broke out, leading to the death of a 32-year old man and a dozen others.
In her complaint to the police, teh girl alleged that the man had subjected her to such abuse on previous occasions also.
Following this, the police mediated and brought them to an agreement when both the parties agreed to drop the clash and head back home.
However, things took an aggressive turn again. And the situation grew out of control when both the parties started pelting stones, leading to a death. The police imposed a curfew to bring situation under control.
However, a large crowd was allowed to perform the last rites of the deceased.
