Maharashtra's TAIT-Qualified Teacher Aspirants Demand Jobs, Await Court Decision

Several teacher aspirants selected for positions at Rayat Shikshan Sanstha after passing the Teachers Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) in Maharashtra are protesting in Pune for employment. An official stated on Sunday that the issue is currently in court.

Teachers Demand Jobs Amid Court Wait

The protest began on August 13 outside the Education Commissioner’s office in Pune. The demonstrators claim that around 800 of them have cleared the TAIT, conducted by the state government, and have been waiting for their appointment letters for five months.

Protesters Demand Jobs

Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is an educational society managing government-aided schools across Maharashtra. The protesters noted that those who chose Zilla Parishad (ZP) schools have already started working and are receiving salaries. "Nobody is taking cognizance of our demand. We will not withdraw our protest until we get jobs," said one of the candidates.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare mentioned that the matter is sub-judice. "I have discussed it with them twice. The matter is in the high court, they knew it. Further verdict depends on the high court. I tried to convince them that agitation is not an option," he said.

Legal Hurdles

The appointment of these TAIT-qualified candidates in schools under Rayat Shikshan Sanstha was halted after temporary workers there moved court seeking permanent jobs. This legal complication has delayed the issuance of appointment letters to the qualified candidates.

The teacher aspirants are determined to continue their protest until their demands are met. They feel neglected as no action has been taken regarding their employment despite clearing the necessary exams and fulfilling all requirements.

The ongoing protest highlights the frustration and uncertainty faced by these qualified candidates. They are urging authorities to resolve the issue promptly so they can begin their teaching careers without further delay.

The situation remains tense as both sides await a decision from the high court, which will determine the next steps in this ongoing dispute.
