Maharashtra seeks deferment from NEET for one year

New Delhi, May 16:Citing different syllabus and exam pattern, Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde today sought deferring implementation of Supreme Court order NEET as the sole medical and dental entrance test for atleast a year.

Tawde today told Union Health Minister J P Nadda that state students will face problems in appearing for the NEET examination as the exam and syllabus pattern is way different from the CET, which is conducted in Maharashtra.

NEET has been made made mandatory for students seeking admission in medical and dental colleges. He added that NEET also doesn't give any option for students wanting to appear for the exams in Marathi or Urdu.

Tawde added that a year's exemption to the state will give the students better chances for the NEET.
