Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election 2024: Govinda Joins Eknath Shinde's Sena After Meeting In Juhu
As the 2024 Lok Sabha elections draw near, a return to politics is reportedly being considered by popular Bollywood actor Govinda. According to reports, Govinda may be contested from the North-West Mumbai Lok Sabha seat on the Shiv Sena ticket led by Eknath Shinde against Shiv Sena-UBT's Amol Kirtikar, who is the son of sitting MP from Shinde camp Gajanan Kirtikar.
Speculation surrounding Govinda's potential entry into politics has been now confirmed.
Notably, the veteran Bollywood actor had a recent meeting with the Maharashtra Chief Minister Shinde, as reported by PTI. The meeting, held last week, has intensified rumours of Govinda's political comeback.

Govinda, who previously served in the political realm, contested the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat in 2004 under the Congress banner. He defeated the BJP veteran leader Ram Naik. However, Govinda later parted ways with the Congress party and decided not to contest elections in 2009 Lok Sabha polls, reported Economic Times.
Discussions surrounding his political aspirations are gaining momentum, and the actor's potential candidacy from the North-West Mumbai constituency remains a subject of interest. With his past experience in electoral politics, Govinda's prospective return adds an intriguing dimension to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Govinda to comeback in politics - Here's what we know
- Actor Govinda was met by Shiv Sena leader Krishna Hegde at his home in Mumbai's Juhu on Thursday amid speculations that Govinda might receive a ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Mumbai North West seat, as reported by Free Press Journal.
- Eknath Shinde's game plan appears to involve fielding the actor against Amol Kirtikar, who has been fielded by Shiv Sena (UBT).
- Amol, the son of the sitting M.P. Gajanan Kirtikar, has joined Shinde, but his father is not interested in contesting the poll since it would have pitted him against his son.
- In the absence of a candidate of stature to defeat Amol, Shinde is considering the idea of asking Govinda to enter the fray.
- Earlier, speculations were rife that talks had been on with Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit to contest from the Mumbai North West seat, but now Govinda's name is making headlines.
- With the Shinde leader meeting the famous actor at his home ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, it is evident that Govinda fighting the upcoming general election against Uddhav Thackeray is not just a mere speculation, as per media reports.
- However, nothing has been made official yet, and political spectators are awaiting an official statement to be made either by the actor or the party.
- Govinda had emerged as a giant political killer in 2004 when he gave a shocking defeat to sitting M.P. and BJP veteran Ram Naik.
