Maharashtra Governor rejects Yakub Memon's clemency plea
Mumbai, July 29: Maharashtra Governor C.V. Rao on Wednesday rejected death row convict Yakub Memon's plea for clemency, official sources said here.
The development came shortly after a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court rejected Memon's appeal filed before it.
This is expected to pave the way for Memon's scheduled execution in the Nagpur Central Jail Thursday at 7 a.m., on his 54th birthday, for his role and conviction in the March 12, 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
