Ajit Pawars Strong Response to Oppositions Govt Dismissal Call

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday strongly responded to the opposition's demand for the dismissal of the Eknath Shinde-led government due to concerns over the law and order situation in the state. Pawar asserted that the current government enjoys the support of 225 MLAs in the 288-member assembly, providing it with a solid majority.

Pawar's Statement at NCP Event

Speaking at an event in Mumbai where Congress leader Baba Siddique joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Pawar, he highlighted the absence of similar demands during the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai when a Congress-led coalition was in power in Maharashtra. Pawar emphasized that attempts are being made to create an atmosphere of fear by claiming a breakdown of law and order in the state.

No Defense of Recent Incidents

Pawar clarified that his statement was not intended to defend or justify the recent incidents of violence that have drawn criticism from the opposition. He acknowledged the concerns raised by the opposition and stated that the government is taking appropriate measures to address these issues.

Opposition's Demand for Dismissal

Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray called for the dismissal of the government following the murder of his party's leader Abhishek Ghosalkar in Mumbai's Borivali area. Additionally, an incident earlier this month in Thane district involving BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad opening fire inside a police station and injuring a worker of the Eknath Shinde-led Sena further fueled the opposition's demand.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's firm response to the opposition's demand underscores the government's confidence in its majority support in the assembly. While acknowledging the need to address concerns over law and order, Pawar emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining peace and stability in Maharashtra.
