State Govt. Pledges Comprehensive Development in Marathwada: Maharashtra CM Eknth Shinde

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assures full-fledged growth and development in the Maratha region with a whopping fund sanction of over Rs 60,000 crore. Plans are also made to link the area with Samruddhi and proposed Nagpur-Goa expressways.

The Maharashtra state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has affirmed its commitment to the comprehensive development of Marathwada region. This announcement was made by Shinde during a function in Thane on Saturday, September 30th.

Marathwada development

During his address, the chief minister honoured and paid tribute to those freedom fighters who played a pivotal role in liberating Marathwada from being part of Hyderabad State before 1948. He emphasized that their sacrifices for the cause of liberation will never be forgotten by either the government or the people.

Government's Commitment Towards Marathwada

"We can never forget the sacrifice of freedom fighters for the liberation of Marathwada. The government is committed to its all-round development," said Shinde. He further stated that funds exceeding Rs 60,000 crore have been sanctioned by his administration for developmental projects in this region.

New Infrastructure Developments

Shinde also shared plans about connecting Marathwada with two significant expressways - Samruddhi Expressway and Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway - which are expected to boost connectivity and foster growth in this area. In addition, he requested proposals from Marathwada Jana Vikas Parishad regarding setting up 'Marathwada Bhavan'. The chief minister assured that such a proposal would receive positive consideration from his government.

Acknowledging Contributions During COVID-19 Pandemic

The event also saw Dr Raman Gangakhedkar being awarded with 'Marathawda Bhushan'; an honour given as recognition for his unparalleled services during COVID-19 pandemic. As Head Scientist of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases at Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr Gangakhedkar played a pivotal role in managing the pandemic situation.

Health Initiative for Senior Citizens

In addition to these announcements, Shinde disclosed plans about launching a health checkup drive specifically targeted at senior citizens. This initiative will be named after the late Shiv Sena supremo, paying tribute to his contributions and leadership.
