Maharashtra Farmers To Benefit Rrom Re 1 Crop Insurance Scheme

Farmers in Maharashtra can now secure crop insurance for just Re 1 under a new scheme, covering a wide range of crops and offering significant protection.

Farmers in Maharashtra have good news from the Shinde government. They can now get crop insurance for just Re 1. This scheme, implemented by the Narendra Modi government, covers various crops like paddy, jowar, bajra, ragi, maize, tur, moong, urad, soybean, groundnut, sesame, cotton, and onion.

Farmers in notified areas can benefit from this scheme for notified crops. Participation is voluntary for both crop loan borrowers and non-borrower farmers. Lease farmers must upload their registered tenancy agreement on the crop insurance portal.

Re 1 Insurance Scheme for Maharashtra s Farmers

Farmers need to keep a record of the sown crop in the e-crop inspection. The last date to join this scheme is 15th July 2024. The risk level for all crops is set at 70 percent. Insurance cover is payable if there is a decrease in crop yield due to insufficient rainfall, floods, drought, or other reasons.

If the expected yield drops by more than 50 percent of the marginal yield from sowing to harvesting, insurance cover applies. Non-indebted farmers can apply for insurance at an authorized bank with their bank passbook, Aadhaar card, self-declaration letter of crop sowing, khatauni, and mobile number.

Insurance can also be taken from Jan Seva Kendra or through the portal pmfby.gov.in.
