Maharashtra Bandh Tomorrow: What's Open, What's Closed? Find Out

The opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has announced a "Maharashtra bandh" on August 24 to protest the alleged sexual assault of two young girls at a school in Badlapur in Thane district.

The decision was made during a meeting involving MVA allies-Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP)-as confirmed by Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra state assembly.

Wadettiwar stated that all MVA allies would participate in the bandh, aiming to highlight the seriousness of the incident and demand justice for the victims. As there is a bandh, people are usually worried as it affects the normal lives.

What's Open, What's Closed?

Public Transport: The state government has not extended its support to the bandh. Hence, it will function like normal on Saturday.

Hospitals: Even during bandhs, hospitals and OPDs work like normal. So, they are likely to remain open.

Schools and Colleges: The government or the concerned department has issued directives for the closure of educational instituations. However, schools and colleges that typically close on Saturdays will remain shut.

Banks: As it is the fourth Saturday of the month, Banks will be remain closed on August 24.
Hotels, and Bars: As of now, there is not any announcement from the hotel organisations supporting the bandh. Hence, it is expected to work like normal. Also, there is not a reason for worry for tipplers as even if bars and pubs are closed in the day timing, it is expected to open in the evening.
