Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: NCP Ajit Pawar Group's 4 Big Leaders Resigns; Likely To Join Sharad Pawar

Months ahead of the crucial and anticipated Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, four big leaders of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Ajit Pawar's group tendered their resignation on Wednesday, July 16. According to the reports, these big leaders are likely to return to Sharad Pawar camp by this weekend.

Amoung NCP Leaders who have resigned lately are the party's Pimpri-Chinchwad unit chief Ajit Gavhane and NCP Students' Wing chief leader Yash Sane. Former corporators and ground-level leaders Rahul Bhosale and Pankaj Bhalekar, who have a strong hold among people of the region, have also handed over their resignation to NCP chief Ajit Pawar, said reports.

A rift inside NCP has also been reported underlining that many leaders of the Ajit Pawar group want to switch back to Sharad Pawar's side as they did not get the desired results in month ago concluded Lok Sabha elections 2024. Ajit Pawar's NCP managed to win only one seat despite the support of BJP and Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde fraction, while Sharad Pawar's newly formed party NCP (Sharad Chandra Pawar) won 8 seats in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, it was also learned that Ajit Pawar may leave BJP's National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and join hands with his uncle, Sharad Pawar again ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024.

Maharashtra Elections 2024 for 288 Assembly seats is slated to be held in the month of October and all parties have pulled up their socks.

Senior leader Sharad Pawar had earlier said that people who tried to harm his party would not be taken back, but people who were harmless may get a chance to return.

"Those who wanted to weaken the party would not be taken in. But those leaders who would help strengthen the organization and not hurt the image of the party would be taken in," Sharad Pawar had said.
