Maharashtra: 11 die as truck topples in Sangli

Police have reached the spot to clear the road. The deceased have not been identified yet.

At least 11 people, travelling in a truck carrying tiles, were killed after the truck toppled in Sangli, Maharashtra. Also, 11 others injured in the accident.

The accident happened 370 km away from the state capital Mumbai.

The truck flipped over at a sharp turn amid low visibility near Tasgaon town in this western Maharashtra district this morning, it said.

Ten workers were killed on the spot and 20 others injured in the accident, the police said.

The vehicle was on its way to Solapur from Karad in adjoining Satara district.

Police have reached the spot to clear the road. The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital. The deceased have not been identified yet.
