Mahakumbh Mela 2025: Over 1.7 Million Devotees Take Dip In Sangam In Prayagraj At 8 AM
The Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has attracted over 1.7 million pilgrims by 8 AM on Sunday, according to official figures from the state government. This massive gathering at the Sangam Triveni included 10 lakh Kalpvasis and 7.02 lakh other devotees who took a holy dip, ANI reported.
Upcoming Key Bathing Dates
Despite dense fog covering the area, the number of visitors remains unaffected. The Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. Four significant Shahi Snans are yet to occur, with the next ones scheduled for January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).

By January 18, more than 77.2 million pilgrims had already bathed at the Sangam Triveni during this year's Maha Kumbh. On January 17 alone, over 2.5 million people visited the site by 4 PM, as per released data.
Spiritual Leaders and Devotees Gather
Spiritual leader Morari Bapu arrived in Prayagraj on Saturday and expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing festival. He remarked, "...I am very happy and I have arrived for 'katha' at the Mahakumbh. The arrangements for the Mahakumbh are very good. I am very excited as it is a very big festival for the 'Sanatan Dharma' and Spiritual world..."
The event has seen a significant influx of devotees, including some prominent figures. The Maha Kumbh commenced with devotees from India and abroad converging at Triveni Sangam for the first Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti.
The atmosphere around Triveni Sangam is charged with devotion as foreign pilgrims join in this spiritual gathering. This participation underscores its status as one of the world's largest spiritual events.
As more pilgrims are expected in the coming days, anticipation builds for this grand celebration of faith and spirituality in India.
