The Kumbh Mela of 2025 is anticipated to set a new benchmark in terms of scale and organization, with preparations underway to host over 40 crore devotees from around the world. This 55-day religious gathering in Prayagraj, under the auspices of the Uttar Pradesh government led Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and supported by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, is aimed at making history in the Hindu faith. Authorities are determined to provide unparalleled facilities, making this event a landmark in spiritual gatherings.

Transport facilities have been meticulously planned to ensure that pilgrims can travel to Prayagraj with ease. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is at the forefront, deploying a massive fleet of 7,550 buses from all corners of the state, and adding 550 shuttle buses for the final leg of the journey to the event site. This extensive network is expected to cater to over 3 crore devotees, showcasing the state's commitment to facilitating a smooth pilgrimage. With additional buses connecting neighbouring states, the reach is nationwide, ensuring devotees from every part of India can partake in the festivities without hassle.

Enhanced Rail and Air Connectivity for Pilgrims

Indian Railways is playing a crucial role in transporting millions to the Kumbh Mela, with around 13,000 special trains scheduled to run to and from Prayagraj. This effort is set to link 50 additional cities to Prayagraj specifically for the event, demonstrating the railways' commitment to making the journey as convenient as possible for pilgrims. Strategic stops near the Sangam area facilitate easy access to the festival site, highlighting the thoughtfulness in planning.

Moreover, air travel is being optimized to cater to the expected surge in pilgrims, with direct flights from major cities and plans to include flights from additional cities to Prayagraj. The convenience of electric buses and taxis from the Prayagraj airport to the Sangam area underscores the comprehensive approach to transportation for the event, ensuring that even air travelers have a smooth final leg of their journey.
