Maha Kumbh Mela: Fire Broke Out At Sector 6

A fire broke out in Sector 6 of the Maha Kumbh Mela area on Thursday, triggering panic among devotees, in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

However, the authorities dozed off the fire quickly and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, the investigation is on to identify the cause of the fire accident.

Incidents Of Fire Accidents In Maha Kumbh

Several incidents of fire accidents have occurred during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. On February 7, a fire at the ISKCON camp in Sector 18 spread to a dozen nearby tents, destroying nearly 20 structures but causing no injuries.

On January 19, a massive fire broke out in Sector 19 following a cylinder blast. While no lives were lost, more than a dozen camps were reduced to ashes. Last month, a short circuit in Sector 2 caused two parked cars to catch fire. The blaze spread from one vehicle to another, but no casualties were reported.

Also, there was a stampede on January 29 at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj which left at least 30 people dead and 60 injured. The tragedy occurred on 'Amrit Snan' on Mauni Amavasya, as millions of devotees gathered to take holy dip at the Triveni Sangam.

Maha Kumbh, World's Largest Religious Gathering

The Maha Kumbh, billed as the world's largest religious gathering, saw 1.47 million people taking holy dip on Thursday. As per a report in ANI, 5 lakh Kalpavasis have taken a dip, while 9.79 lakh are pilgrims.

Since January 13, over 482.9 million people have taken holy dip at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati.

Notable personalities include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Dropadi Murmu, and industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
