Amit Shah Highlights Cultural Significance of Maha Kumbh During Rituals at Triveni Sangam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the Maha Kumbh at Triveni Sangam, highlighting its significance as a symbol of Sanatan culture's philosophy of harmony. Shah, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other seers, performed rituals including a holy dip and jal aachman. The event was attended by notable figures like Yoga guru Ramdev and Shah's family members, who also took part in the rituals.

Amit Shah Takes Part in Maha Kumbh Rituals

Shah expressed his joy on social media, stating, "I am overwhelmed and delighted to have taken a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh, a symbol of social harmony and unity, in the presence of revered seers." He prayed for the well-being of all to Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, and Mother Saraswati. The home minister emphasized that the Maha Kumbh fosters unity among people and enhances pride in Sanatan traditions.

Significance of Maha Kumbh

The Maha Kumbh is an important religious event that attracts millions. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 1.55 crore people participated in the holy bath on Monday alone. Since its commencement on January 13, more than 14.76 crore individuals have taken part in this mega religious gathering. The event will continue until February 26, hosting over 10 lakh Kalpvasis who engage in month-long spiritual practices.

During his visit, Shah met with various seers including Avdheshanand Giriji Maharaj and Mahant Hari Giri. He also visited Avdheshanand Giriji Maharaj's ashram and met Swami Chidanand Saraswati before departing from the Maha Kumbh. The visit was marked by tight security measures in Prayagraj, with route diversions affecting locals and pilgrims.

Rituals and Blessings

Shah's family members, including son Jay Shah, participated in rituals such as aarti at the Sangam. Jay Shah held his newborn while receiving blessings from seers. Amit Shah's wife Sonal, daughter-in-law Rishita, and grandchildren were also present. The rituals were graced by saints like Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara and Peethadheeshwar Kailashanand of Niranjani Akhara.

After completing rituals at the Sangam, Shah's family visited the Akshayvata tree with Adityanath. This ancient tree holds mythological importance for Hindus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously offered prayers at this site during his pre-Maha Kumbh visit in December.

Social Media Reflections

Adityanath shared his reflections on social media: "Today, in the holy presence of revered seers and spiritual leaders, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah took a sacred dip at the holy Triveni Sangam in Tirthraj Prayag." He prayed for prosperity and well-being for all through blessings from Ma Ganga, Ma Yamuna, and Ma Saraswati.

In another post, Adityanath mentioned Shah's ritual worship of Mother Ganga at Prayagraj: "In the sacred presence of revered seers, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah performed the ritual worship and aarti of the ever-purifying Mother Ganga at Prayagraj." He included a Sanskrit shloka dedicated to the Ganga river.

The Maha Kumbh serves as a platform for showcasing Sanatan Dharma's life philosophy rooted in harmony. Amit Shah noted its role in promoting unity among countrymen while enhancing pride in Sanatan traditions. His participation underscored these values amidst tight security arrangements throughout Prayagraj during this significant event.
