Maha Kumbh 2025: How Will School Schedules Change In Uttar Pradesh?

The Maha Kumbh 2025 officially began on Monday in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a significant event for millions of devotees who have gathered to take the holy dip and seek blessings. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the day as especially meaningful for those who cherish Indian values and culture, emphasising that the massive religious event reflects India's rich spiritual heritage. The city of Prayagraj is buzzing with activity as people from across the country converge for this sacred occasion.

However, with such a large number of people in the city, students in Uttar Pradesh are uncertain about whether schools are closed today. In Ghaziabad, both government and private schools up to class 8 will remain closed until January 18 due to a severe cold wave. This closure includes Anganwadis and pre-schools, with classes set to resume on January 20. Similarly, in Gorakhpur, the district administration has announced that all government and private schools, as well as Anganwadis, will be closed until January 14, with classes expected to resume on January 15.

As for Prayagraj, there is no official update on school closures for today. However, students are advised to remain in touch with their schools, as authorities may opt for online classes in case traffic disruptions occur due to the large influx of people attending the Maha Kumbh.

To manage the flow of devotees, the Prayagraj administration has put in place a comprehensive traffic plan for the Paush Purnima and Makar Sankranti days. The plan includes diversions, additional parking facilities, and designated pedestrian routes to ensure smooth movement.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his delight at seeing Prayagraj filled with pilgrims and tourists, wishing them a peaceful and blessed stay during the Kumbh.
